How to Give Feedback That Actually Matters

Most of us wait for a formal review to tell a teammate they are doing a great job. Or worse, we only speak up when something goes wrong. But the strongest teams aren't built through silence. They are built by people who take a few seconds out of their week to make their teammates feel seen, valued, and guided.

Here is how you can use Looply to share feedback that truly turns someone’s day around, without making it weird or complicated.

1. Don’t overthink it (The 30-Second Rule) You don’t need to write a novel. The best feedback is given right after the moment happens. Did a teammate jump in to save a project? Did they run a great meeting? Jump into Looply while it’s fresh in your mind.

Try this template on Looply:

“Hey [Name], the way you handled [Specific Situation] today was incredible. It really helped us [Specific Impact]. Thank you!”

2. Make it about the work, not the person Great feedback provides clarity. Whether you are giving a shoutout or offering a tip for next time, focus on the behaviour rather than the personality. Looply’s built-in behavioural categories do the heavy lifting for you, just select the category (like Collaboration or Initiative) and add a quick note.

Try this template on Looply:

“I loved your approach to [Task]. Next time, it might be even faster if we try [Suggestion]. Great work taking the lead on this!”

3. Ask yourself: “What is my intent?” Before you send feedback, ask yourself one question: Am I trying to help this person grow? Meaningful feedback, whether it is praise or a gentle redirection, always comes from a place of wanting to see the other person succeed.

Let Looply do the heavy-lifting. You focus on what matters - your people.
